Grandkids, Roasted Marshmellows, Hayride, Fun

Last weekend was gorgeous.  I enjoyed it to the fullest.  On Saturday I spent the day with Keesi, Shawn, Mazy and Bo and we had a great time.  Shawn and I went to a flea market and consignment sale in the morning.  Both were at the fair grounds in DMS and there were really good crowds.  It's nice to see the fair grounds being used so much since it is getting nicer and nicer there.  Next we headed to a Mexican Resturant for lunch and then back to the house for naps.  While the boys were napping Keesi and I went to Architectual Salvage in DMS---Troy and his boss really need to go there.  Fun to see all they have and compare it to what I have.  After that we browsed through Valley Junction and enjoyed the fun shops and nice weather.  My glass of wine at a roof top garden was faaantastic.  Late in the afternoon we headed to the World Food Fair and enjoyed the tastes, sights and sounds.  Great time.

Sunday was the 45th Annual Wirt Picnic.  Smallest crowd ever, one of the nicest days ever.  We had a hayride, walked down that killer hill to get to where we used to have the picnic (I miss having it there) and then came back to our house for supper.  Mom and Dad joined us along with Doug, Jean and Marla, Keesi, Shawn and boys, Bandy, Kindi and girls and Troy, Keri and boys.  What a crowd.  I loved it.  We missed you Luetts!

How Can You Not Love October?

October is here.  My house is decorated for fall/halloween or halloween/fall depending on how you want to look at it.  This is my favorite time of year.  Harvest is in full swing so everyone at home is busy busy busy.  So far things are going well--no accidents.  Troy comes and helps almost every week night when he gets home so I get to see a lot of Maddox which is a bonus.  Kael is playing flag football and I've been going to his games on Tuesdays.  In case you have somehow forgotten, I love football!   Next weekend is the 45th Annual Wirt Picnic.  Hardly anyone will be here because everyone came home last year.  They moved it up so they could have it on 10/10/10.  I know at least two of our kids are coming---not sure about B and his family.  I know that H & S are not going to make it this year.  Today we are supposed to get a new fuse box at our house.  I hope the electrician comes because I am scared to death that it will catch on fire before he can get there to fix it!  The trials of living in an old house!!  On a more pleasant note, yesterday was a perfect fall day and I spent part of it fishing with Dad, Keesi, Mazy and Bo.  Good times.

Monday Morning

I am not a fan of Monday Mornings.  Today I am especially not a fan because I just don't feel like working away from home.  That being said, so far I'm not all that busy at work so it shouldn't be a very stressful day.  Last weekend we spent Friday and Saturday in Iowa City.  Kev had a golf tournament.  Since it was cold and rainy I elected to go to the mall and walk around and window shop.  Hard to believe knowing me that I didn't buy anything but a cup of coffee and a cookie!  The next day we went to the casino in Riverside which is very nice.  I didn't win anything however.  Not a problem because I learned long ago to make sure I take a book for when I hit my monetary losing limit.  Kev tends to win and I don't!  Sunday was house cleaning/laundry day.  I've been since a slug lately and it's time to get in gear.  Well----
back to work.  Happy Monday everyone.

Here at last here at last, thank God Almighty fall's here at last

It was a very strange summer weather wise and I confess that I am more than ready for fall.  First of all I love this time of year, second I love football (Packers play tonight) and third I am more than a little enamored with Halloween!  Keesi and I had supper last night at Nicks and shopped for Halloween afterward.  It's a sad thing when you have so much that you can't find anything you like but that is what happens to me when it comes to Halloween decorations.  Actually Martha Stuart has a few things that I covet but simply can't afford.  Oh well, there is always next year.  This week end we are going to OP to visit Heidi, Steve and fam.  I'm hoping to catch some of the Iowa/Iowa State game there.  First though I need to focus on laundry and cleaning so you know how my night is going to go tonight.  Back to work and happy fall!

Picnic and Party

Last Thursday I got the bright idea that Keesi and I should take the boys on an impromtu picnic after work.  Kevin was gone for the weekend and I didn't have to be home early.  Shawn was up for a night of peace and quiet at home.  For as long as I've been crossing the Mile Long Bridge on my way to and from work I've thought that the beach at the west end of it, by the boat ramp, would be a great place to take little guys to explore.  Plenty of water, sand and rocks.  We met in Polk City, had a picnic at a park there, went to another park and let the boys play on the equipment for about a half hour and then headed to the lake.  It was a perfect night and I must say, as an area for guys to wade and throw rocks and look for dinosaur bones it proved to be even better than I'd hoped.  As dark approached we called it a night.  Two tired boys ready for baths and bed.  One relaxed Mom and one relaxed Grandma.  It was great----

Garage Sale, Vacation, State Fair and Cousin Camp

I can't believe I haven't written anything since June!  It's been a great summer.  Last week, Keesi, Shawn, Mazy and I went on the 141 Garage Sales.  We had a ball.   I've take several days of vacation and Hudson spent some of them with me on the farm.  He's becoming quite the explorer and gets on his big wheel and explores everywhere--corn fields, tractors, front yard, feed shed, hogs, cows, manure pile--well you get the idea.  Keesi brings her boys to the farm often and Mazy especially loves to swim in Grandpa's pool.  Kael and Maddox come out a lot also and Kael likes to swim--Maddox is a little small for that yet.  Kael and I try to sneak in Movie Time whenever we can.  I've been on vacation for the last week and Heidi and Theron and Hudson were here.  One day we went to the State Fair---with Keri, Kael and Maddox, Keesi and Mazy and Sherie and Luke.  Eleven of us but we had a great Kids Day at the Fair!  Yesterday was Cousin Camp.  Kael, Mazy, Theron, Hudson and Bo all spent the night before on the farm.  Yesterday it was up early to go outside and play.  We set up an obstacle course and had 4 wheeler rides followed by lots of swimming (thanks Troy and Luke) and big wheel riding.  Marla, Doug and Jean joined us also and Theron was very glad not to be so outnumbered.  When Keesi and Shawn got to the farm they all ran the obstacle course again and then after supper had a scavenger hunt.  When it got dark we had fireworks--sorry scared cows!  It was a fun day.  Grandma loved it---

Summer Fun

On Thursday after work Kael and I picked Shawn up and headed to KC to meet Keesi, Mazy, Bo, Jen, Steve, Heidi, Theron and Hud for a fun packed weekend.

We started with a stop at a huge fireworks store---I confess, not as fond of them as I was before B's accident.  I wasn't sure I'd ever get Shawn and Kael out of there.  Bonding over fireworks?  Whatever works.  They were having a blast.

We got to KC, got checked in at the hotel and got to Heidi's in time for homemade blueberry pie and blueberry buckle.  Yum.  We got back to the hotel about 10:30 and Kael announced that he was starved.  We ended up ordering pizza and inviting Keesi's family over.  It was a feeding frenzy at 11:45pm!  The sauce was flying!   At one point both Kael and Mazy had a chicken wing in one hand, a slice of pizza in the other and were chewing as fast as they could.  I had sauce on my shoes in the moring.

The next morning they were up and swimming first thing--the pool opened at 6am.  After that we went to Heidi's for a trip to the T Rex Cafe.  Hud hated it.  Didn't like the noise and lights.  Bo took a little while to get used to it but after about half an hour he had fun and the rest loved it.  We shopped for a while and then back to the house for naps.  That night we had a birthday party for Bo.

T stayed at the hotel with Kael and I that night and after breakfast the next day it was more swimming.  We went to Heidi's for lunch and then a little shopping while the kids napped.  Jen and Kael went to Target after we got home and when T woke up it was off to the pool.  Keesi's family opted for a museum instead of swimming.  That night the adults went out for supper and Jen and I baby sat the troops---pizza, movies and legos.  T stayed with us that night as so did Mazy---slumber party in Grandma's room!  Next day we loaded up all Jen's stuff and headed for home.  Great weekend over.

Fishing, Weeding and Rain

Kevin, AKA Grandpa Pig, elected to spend Father's Day on Lake Erie fishing.  I'm pretty sure he only fishes as a social event since he never fishes anywhere near home.  Anyway, sounds like he is enjoying himself.  He'll get home tonight.  I spent the last four days weeding and landscaping.  Troy came out on Friday and cut down a tree that has been too close to the house for as long as I can remember.  Looks different but the more I look at the yard without it the better I like it.  Things are starting to look nice on the farm.  Troy has the swimming pool going and Kael was out and swam in it twice this weekend.  Yesterday was really hot and Marla and Doug and then later Troy all joined him.  Kael is already planning a pool party for his birthday!  Kael and I went to Linden to see my Dad but didn't find anyone at home.  I called them in the evening and discovered they had gone to Des Moines shopping.  Doug and Marla took Keith out to lunch for Fathers Day and then Keith spent several hours sorting and loading cattle.  Ugh.  It was very hot.  Troy was going to help but he got tied up on the golf course so the only option was me.  I no longer own boots (a situation I plan to remedy very soon) so I wasn't all that much help.  Sorry about that Keith!  Well, back to work.  Hope all the Dad's out there had a happy Fathers Day!

Happy Grandpa!

In case you're wondering, the room is finished.  Pictures hung, furniture cleaned, everything arranged.  I had to turn on the ac last night so I could look at the fireplace at night.  I am slowly figuring out the surround sound and life is good.  Even Kev has to admit that he likes it!  We had 30 people for lunch and a birthday party for Theron and Hudson on Sunday (yes, that is just a day and a half after the carpet layers and painters and builders left).  I admit that Heidi, Steve, Kevin, Kael, Theron and I worked really hard on Saturday to get the house put back together.  What a day that was!!!  If I'd known on Friday that the weather wouldn't cooperate on Sunday and we would have to move the party from the park to my house I would have been a basket case!  Thanks to everyone for their hard work.   Having so much space is totally awesome.  Now I can entertain in style!  Sunday night Keesi, Shawn, Mazy and Bo, Heidi, Steve, Theron and Hudson, and Bandy, Kindi, Irelyn and Imersyn were all there and it didn't even seem crowded.  Grandma is happy.

The Beginning of the End---

and I don't mean of the world!!!  Today the trim carpenters come.  They expect to finish today.  Tomorrow the painters come.  They expect to finish on Thursday.  Friday the carpet goes down.  After that I can put my house back together and redecorate!  Most of the stuff from the downstairs is in the garage now so there are very few places to sit.  All my china is sitting on my kitchen counter and on the deep freeze because I unloaded the china cabinet so the guys can move it around.  Dust is on everything and is at least 1/4 inch thick.  Service Master will clean the couches on Thursday (they are in the garage).  I have Friday off and hope to be able to get my kitchen back in working order and start cleaning off the things like my dining room chairs that will need to come back in the house immediately.  Theron, Heidi and Hud will get here on Friday night so I will have help on Saturday.  Kael has promised to come back and help move things back in also---he helped move things out Sunday.  Thanks to Keri and Troy also---and I didn't ask Keri to help, she's hoping carrying things makes the baby decide to come!

The End is in Site

Last night after a fun supper and evening at the river with Keesi and the boys, I cleaned out the addition so the painting can begin.  Tonight while the Grumpy Grandpa Pig is golfing I am going to carry as much stuff as I can out to the garage.  Plainly he doesn't feel that this is his project!  Never inconvience a Grumpy Grandpa!!!

Now, for the good stuff.  I drove to Minneapolis on Mother's Day afternoon with Keesi.  She was attending a conference, I was just hanging out and shopping and eating.  We had a fantastic meal on Mother's Day night, I did some reading, scrapbooking and shopping during the days and we had more great meals and drinks (don't forget the drinks) each night.  What a fantastic way to spend Mother's Day.  I wish Heidi could have been there also!

I am hoping spring is finally here to stay.  I was toying with the idea of a garden but am starting to think it might be a little too ambitious for this year.  The addition is taking a lot of my time!  I am getting more and more excited to have it done.  I am also impatiently waiting for Troy and Keri's baby WOW to arrive (Waylen Otis Wirt).  Not going to be his/her real name, Keri would NEVER agree to that.  It's beautiful outside---make it a great day!

Frost on May 3rd, Seriously?

At the rate we're going my spring flowers are never going to bloom.  I see them blooming in towns but mine are still trying to bud.  I want to plant a small veggie garden this year but it's hard to get enthused when it's so cold and windy.  Maybe tonight I'll go out and work in the back yard.  The front yard is, of course, still a mess.  That isn't a complaint, that's just a fact.  You have to tear it up to fix it up!!!  I've been working in my east side flower garden and I was pleased to see that the perrenials that I planted last year are coming up.  I thought they hadn't made it through the winter but finally they are braving the cold and peaking through.  Our room is progressing--at the moment we are waiting for the gas line to be run and then the fireplace will be set.  After that the insulation and drywall.  They are measuring this week for the carpet and getting that ordered also.  After I see it in the room I'll pick paint colors.  This is going to be so awesome!!!

Go George Go!

The builder we hired to do our addition has been hard at work and I am getting more and more excited.  I go to sleep at night planning how to arrange the room, what fans, carpet etc to buy.  The windows are in, the fireplace will come next week, the electricion was here this week.  I am going tomorrow to select the carpet and after that I will be able to select the paint.  After that I will need to decide what I'm doing for fans.  These are chores I love!  Grumpy Grandpa is still much in evidence.  Interupting his routine and expecting him to live in a mess not of his own making are apparently not high on his list of things to do.  I walk into the huge mess every night and think, 'wow progress!'  followed by 'no point in cleaning, might as well read!'.  It is going to be awesome.  Speaking of awesome, that would describe my Easter Weekend.  In spite of having some type of virus I had a great 3 days.  The hunt at Sherie's was lots of fun.  The food was great--Mom made her awesome carmel rolls--and Sherie served it with such style!  Two of the memories I'll take away are Hudson finding his eggs and Bo sitting after the hunt opening his, (just candy, toss over shoulder, just candy, toss again, dollar bill---MONEY!!!!, put in pile).  Bo also shared his candy with his Great Grandpa and Grandpa and how many kids are lucky enough to do that?  Mazy and Theron are getting to be so grown up and always so glad to get to be together.  Thanks to everyone for a great Easter.

Swatting Flies

Since we started remodeling all I get done is swat flies!  They are driving us crazy.  I think I need to invest in bug spray and more fly swatters!  I'm not sure where they are getting in but they are everywhere.  That is my only complaint regarding the remodeling project which is moving right along.  The rafters went up yesterday and they cut the holes in for the windows.  I am thinking about going to pick out carpet soon so Kev has some idea of what it's going to cost.  Saturday Keesi and her family and Troy and his family came out for a day at the farm.  There is no place like a farm when you're a boy and it's a nice day.  It was a great weekend all around.  Monday I went shopping at noon and found a couple dresses I couldn't resist for Irelyn and Imersyn.  I ran them over to them that night and had supper with all of them.  Bandy had been home sick that day but the rest of them were doing great.  I even got to meet Buck!

Grumpy Grandpa!

I have discovered that Kev doesn't do change well when it comes to his 'in house' routine.  First of all there is a large hole (covered by plywood) and a large chunk of carpet cut into and out of our living room.  The cable and tv there are out of commission.  No golf channel unless he sits in the dining room (where our loveseat currently resides).  No big deal.  There is a daily mess to clean up.  No big deal.  There are muddy prints on what's left of the carpet.  Also no big deal.  My theory is----'Who cares, we're getting a new room!!!'  I'm not sure what his theory is other than that he's spending money and it isn't on something he can take to the field.  On a completely different subject,  I met Keesi, Shawn and the boys last night and had a fun supper at a Mexican Resturant in Ankeny.  I remembered to wear my charm bracelet and both boys were very interested to see it with the charms they and their parents had picked out.  I can't wait to add more charms---looking at them makes me think of the person that picked them out---  Message to the Grandkids---call Grandpa and keep him cheered up!!!

And the Building Continues

So far we have the crawlspace poured and the ground inside it treated for termites.  It looks like real progress.  Today I believe they will attempt to put down plastic in the space but the wind is blowing with gale force so that might not be possible.  I'm not sure what else they have on the agenda.  When I got home Friday Kev had come up with a new idea.  He had decided to move the fireplace from the west wall to the north wall.  (I was actually very happy.  I wanted it on the north to start with but he didn't want the bump out to be on the 'front' of the house)  I am letting him think it is his idea.  I have been thinking about the decorating angle of the room and am pretty sure I have it basically figured out.  I'll wait until we get a little further along and then go check out flooring.  I'm waiting to see (1) how the money is holding out and (2) what kind of shape the existing carpet is in when the project is done.  This is so fun!!!

Coooold-----

It's especially cold in our house---55 degrees this morning because Kev realized last night that he forgot to fill out the 'keep fill' paperwork for our propane and the furnace was off!  Today he is getting us some propane and relightin the furnace (I hope).  There is really not much else to report with the exception of the big black cloud bank that was sort of following me to work this morning.  I can only hope it doesn't snow!  I am going to lunch with some friends today for my birthday.  I know---this is about the 3rd birthday lunch/supper I've done but it's great each and every time!

We're getting started soon---

After years of wanting to build on to our house we are finally going to do it this year.  To say I'm excited would be a gross understatement!  Kev is not so excited but he'll be happy when it's done.  Whitey and George were out Sunday to measure and let us know what needs to be done so we can get started.  (So far, most of the things are nothing that I can do which means Kev is grumbling.)  I'll get more involved the further along we get.  Last weekend was Keith's 80th Birthday---good crowd and lots of cake!  Always nice to see the family.  It was a little windy for the weiner roast but at least it wasn't raining!  As we progress on the room I'll keep everyone posted on colors, etc.  This is going to be such fun!!!

Faaaaantastic!

That is the word I would use to describe my 58th Birthday.  It started on Friday when I read a good book on the drive to KC.  Kev is never very happy when I read while he drives but it was my birthday after all.  When we got to H & S's house Shawn was waiting to take me to an antique mall he knew about.  4 floors of antiques--I was in heaven.  I bought a few small things for a couple of my collections.  After that it was my much anticipated night out with the girls.  What a great time.  The weather was nice and we ate outdoors, great drinks and great food.  Then it was on to the shopping.  I had each of the girls pick out a charm for new new charm bracelet--the first two in my quest to have all my kids, inlaws, grandkids and Kev pick one out for me.  At the end of the evening it was dessert and coffee and then the bookstore.  I hope heaven has creme brulee!!  The next day we saw Theron's horse riding lesson and then went to Fritz's for lunch with the gang.  Train's deliver your food there and the kids loved it.  For the rest of the afternoon we hung around the house, the kids played, the girls sewed and I finished my book.  Both of them made me fantastic home sewn birthday gifts---doesn't get any better than that.  On Sunday we headed for home--with a stop at a casino on the way for a little slot time and supper.  All in all a really great weekend.  Thank you everyone!

Only 290 Days 13 Hours and 30 Minutes Until Christmas

And we have snow so I guess we're ready!  It's actually pretty warm outside even with the blanket of white and I'm sure it isn't going to last long.  It got me thinking about Christmas though and I realized that for the first time in quite a while I haven't started my shopping for next year yet!  Kev was out cleaning businesses this morning--no one wants wet sloppy snow tracked in.  I'm looking forward to this weekend and a weekend trip to Kansas City.  It sounds like the weather is nicer there and I love spending time with everyone.  Today is Kindi's Birthday---Happy Birthday Kindi!  I'm going to Keesi's after work to spend time with Boo while Keesi, Shawn and Mazy go to parent teacher conferences.  Mazy does well in school and is proving to be an interesting little man to teach.  Back to work,  the real estate business is finally picking up---

Another Day Another Dollar

That translates to " I'm back to work and it's Monday Morning".  To add insult to injury it's snowing.  What's up with this?  I should have been expecting it since this is my birthday week and I have celebrated a lot (really alot at my age) of very snowy birthdays.  This is a short week for me though because the "Law as Written by Katy" states that you do not under any circumstances work on your birthday.  Friday is my birthday so Mr. K and I are going to KC to spend the weekend with the Luett Family.  Keesi, Shawn and the boys are going also.  I can't wait!  Shopping and supper with my girls on Friday and all sorts fun with the entire group on Saturday.  My Mom and Dad gave me some money for my birthday so I even have spending money.  My life is good.

I'm Back----

My daughters have been pointing out that I haven't written for a long time.  In my defense I will say that for part of this time my computor was down and I have been swamped at work so I didn't have time to write there.

I also went to Las Vegas and had a great time.  We stayed at the Gold Nugget, saw the shark tank, ate at some great resturants, visited the Strip, played some slots (Elvis sang to me), relaxed did a little shopping.  We went to the new Cosmopolitan in Vegas--what a gorgeous place.  Kev would like to stay there next time but I have to say that I loved our room in the Rush Tower at the Gold Nugget.

Keesia and I went with Keri and her Mom to a 3 day scrapbooking retreat at Camp Sunnyside.  This is the 3rd year we've gone and it's always a great time.  I made a scrapbook for my Mom for her birthday as well as the pages from our Chicago Trip last summer.  Keesi complete a scrapbook also so we felt very productive.

Friday Heidi and Hud came for the weekend.  On Saturday Sherie, Jen, Keesi, Heidi and myself did a fancy birthday lunch for Mom.  I thought it went very well.  We had it at our house but everyone contributed.  Thanks to everyone for all their help.  All the guys went to town for lunch and then came back to our house for dessert.  Keesi, Shawn and the boys stayed after the rest left so they could see more of Heidi and Hud.  All in all, yesterday was a very good time.

Today, Heidi and Hud are already on the road.  I'm working and playing on the computor for a while then I'll finish up my cleaning and laundry.  We have two visitations late this afternoon---how does that happen?  Tomorrow it will be back to work for a short week---we're heading to KC along with Keesi, Shawn and the boys to celebrate my birthday.  I can't wait!  If you have to get older I figure you might as well do it with style----

Go Packers!

Shawn, Keesi, Mazy and Bo spent the weekend at the farm.  Since Shawn is a HUGE Greenbay Packer Fan we tried to have all Wisconsin based foods---the good news is that the Pack won and Shawn didn't have a heart attack.  Both boys did a happy dance every time they scored.  I'm surprised they had the energy left to dance after all the time they spent playing in the snow.  Troy, Kael and Keri came over both Saturday and Sunday and the boys played on snow mountains, built a fort, went sliding, built a tunnel and of course had numerous snow ball fights and built a snow man.  Do all snow men hold an empty BV Bottle and have flourescent yellow golf balls for eyes?  Maybe Shawn and Troy got into the act since it is seven feet tall and has antlers.  If you know Keesi and Shawn ask them about Bo and his favoriet Thomas the Train Story about Chocolate Percy.  We all cracked up laughing at him.  Grandma and Grandpa had a great time---thanks to everyone for coming and playing in our snow!!!

Working a Short Week

The problem with taking 2 days off in the middle of the week is that it makes me realize how much I would like to be retired!  Ah well---Today I braved the weather and treked an hour north east to Ankeny.  I bundled up in my UGGS and my parka, stashed my heavy blandet in the car and set out.  It was cold there also, no suprise.  I was able to talk to one of the builders in our office regarding fireplaces and now I have a few more ideas to share with Kev when he gets home.  Tonight is card night for him--in case you haven't realized it yet he is a VERY social person.  It is 13 days to the start of our vacation in Vegas.  I can't wait!!  I've already bought my book for the flight.  On that positive note I need to get busy and pay my bills--today was also pay day.

Another Snow Day!!

After spending a great day at home yesterday it looks like I'm home again today.  It looks like the blizzard is winding down but our road is still closed (insincere sigh) so I look forward to another great day.  Again I plan to spend it scrapbooking, organizing, cooking and reading--4 of my favorite things.  Heidi suggested that I start planning how to decorate the new living room that we are going to add on in the spring.  Yes, you read that correctly, I am getting my room and I'm so excited!  At this point I am in the 'looking and thinking' stage.  I want to use some of the things I already have obviously.  I know that I want a fireplace (yeah!!) and that we are going to do wood floors.  I am going to put a big screen for Kev above the fireplace because that will make the room easier to arrange and I don't thing a 16 x 20 room is large enough for two focal areas.  At this point it's still a dream but Kev did ask me last night where I will put the Christmas Tree next year---

Squirrels and Dinosaurs win by a landslide

If you read my previous blog you know that my Mighty Hunters-- Kevin, Troy and Kael--attended an all day squirrel hunting tournament (yes I said squirrel hunting tournament) on Saturday.  The three of them got skunked (or in this case dare I say it--squirreled).  Anyway, my other two grandsons, Mazy age 6 and 2 year old Bourne aka Bo to the rest of the world and Boo to his Grandma Katy, called to see how they did.  Mazy wanted to know if they got any squirrels and Bo wanted to know how many dinosaurs they shot.  Ahh, I love that kid.  The total squirrel tally for all the participants was 97 squirrels.  Holly cow, too bad they weren't after deer since Guthrie County has an abundance of them and they all run around looking for my car so they can hit it.   I spent a very peaceful weekend organizing, scrapbooking, cooking and reading.  It's so rare that I get a weekend to myself---and kids, don't for a minute think that I don't love it when you come!

My First Blog Ever

Here I am taking a crack at doing what both of my daughters do so well----blogging.  I've been reading their blogs for quite a while and enjoying them so I've decided that it's time for me to get into the game also.  I'm a full time working wife, mother to four really great grown kids with a total of seven, soon to be eight fantastic grandkids.  I keep busy just keeping up with all of them but in my spare time I spend a lot of time reading, cooking and scrapbooking.  I got a Nook for Christmas from my friends at work and now I am never without reading material.  I also like to garden and make the occasional trip to a casino with Grandpa Pig (aka my husband, Kevin).  This weekend he is off to an all day squirrel hunt and I plan to do some serious scrapbooking.  At least it sounds like the weather should be good for Daniel Boone and friends.  I think Troy and his son Kael are going also so it's a multi generational hunt.
