Boys and Bales

Here I am, back for another busy week at work after a great weekend.  Kev and I went out Friday night and Saturday I got up and straightened up the house in preperation for Keesi, Shawn and family, Sharon, and Troy, Keri and Maddox.   Maz and Bo came for lunch and we headed outside for 2-1/2 hours of farm fun.  I hadn't played on the big bales or floated cobs in the creek in years.  Then we browned ribs on the grill and came inside to start cooking.  With the ribs in the crockpot and eggs and potatoes cooking, we cut up rubarb for crisp.  Then Bo helped me cut up potatoes and both boys helped peel eggs.  Bo made the topping for the crisp and Maz stirred up brownies.  We got that done just in time for Grandma to get to hold Vi when they walked through the door.  Mr. Bo is a vaccuming whiz and he cleaned up for me.  I love having the family around!

Back in Iowa

I'm back in Iowa and this time I'm here to stay---for a while anyway.  Since my last blog I've been to Las Vegas and to New Orleans---good times.  We spent Easter with Heidi and Steve's family in KC and made it home in time to get a good nights sleep and get to work on Monday.  Still haven't unpacked----  The day before we left I became a Grandma for the 9th time!  Sweet little Violet Betty Wirt Hanson is doing very well and is welcomed by a family that is very excited to have her.  Mom, Dad and Mazian can't seem to get enough of her and Bo tolerates her so life is good at the Wirt Hanson household.  Last night it got down to 28 degrees---I am guessing there will be frost damage for people with early gardens.  Makes me glad that I was a lazy bones and haven't done any planting yet.  Business has really picked up here so I need to get to work--happy spring everyone.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas----

Since I more or less missed Christmas this year I can't say that I'm sorry to see the snow!  The snow is coming down, everything is clean and white.  It can dump all it wants---we can survive anything when it's the middle of February before it finally starts to snow.  Spring is just around the corner.

I'm organizing pictures and albums for a big scrapbooking weekend that Keesi and I attend every year.  It's a great chance to get caught up on my albums, get in some Keesi time and support Easter Seals all in one swoop.  Keri and her Mom are attending also and I hope we get to sit near them at least.  The four of us had a great time last year.

Now that I am finally feeling good again I am getting ready to do some organizing at home.  I actually like doing that and I also like shopping in my own store room in the top of my garage.  It's amazing how many things I have that I forget all about!  I have to wait for Kev to pull the stairs down though.  Last time I pulled it down I managed to hit myself on top of the head and nearly knocked myself out.

I'll try to let everyone know how my shopping goes when I get the stairs down.  Who knows, my house my have a whole new look.

Super Party and Snow

Here I am, at work on yet another Monday.  Yesterday we had a small Super Bowl Party--good times!  Keesi, Shawn and the boys, Jean and Marla, Kev and I, Troy, Keri and Maddox.  The boys and Marla played outside in the snow.  When Troy got there he got out a toboggan and pulled them around the yard.  They loved it.  When they came in we fixed a slider bar, chili cheese fries and warmed them up with supper.  I love making 'football food' and when it's a small group I can try some different things!  Well, work calls.  Have a great Monday everyone.

End of a Long Week

Remember the movie 'The Longest Yard'?  Well this was the longest week.  Ever.  In the history of working.  It's been my first full week in well over a month and of course I end up with a really really nasty cold and cough.  More medicine.  Ugh.  This weekend I will chill and work at getting my house in order and maybe do a little decorating and a lot of laundry.  Last night I went to Keesi and Shawn's while they attended math night and I had supper and watched movies with my little guys.  I looked forward to it all day and Mazy gave me a really great bird house that he had painted for me.  Tonight Kev and I will watch Maddox while Troy goes to pick up Kael and then we'll get to see Kael for awhile also.  Tomorrow Kevin, Troy and Kael are participating in a squirrel hunting tournament.  All three are looking forward to it.  Watch out squirrels, here they come!!!  That's all for now--

Finally! I remembered my password!

Talk about getting forgetful!  I'd swear I tried this password before but I must not have.  I haven't been on since October, I can't believe it.  In October my Mom got sick--very scarey time for all of us.  As a result we weren't able to have our yearly Halloween Party---next year will be a big one!  We had a smaller version at my sister's in DMS and the kids had a blast.  Thanks you guys for pulling it together so quickly.   We had Thanksgiving on the farm--lots of people and lots of food and fun.  And then it was December.  This is usually one of my favorite times of the year.  This year I caught a virus that started around 12/15 and kept me home from work until 01/19.  Yes those dates are correct.  I even ended up in the hospital for a night.  Glad to be back to work.  Thanks to Kev and all my kids for helping make my holiday since I spent it at home.  Troy brought his boys over often, thanks to Kael for snuggling and watching movies.  Heidi and Hud came and took care of me for several days and got ready for our family Christmas.  Keesi and Shawn brought the boys out to entertain me and Keesi cooked and left me food.  Actually not a bad holiday just different.  I love all you guys.  Well, since I'm back at work I guess I should do something.  Belated Happy New Year to everyone.

Grandkids, Roasted Marshmellows, Hayride, Fun

Last weekend was gorgeous.  I enjoyed it to the fullest.  On Saturday I spent the day with Keesi, Shawn, Mazy and Bo and we had a great time.  Shawn and I went to a flea market and consignment sale in the morning.  Both were at the fair grounds in DMS and there were really good crowds.  It's nice to see the fair grounds being used so much since it is getting nicer and nicer there.  Next we headed to a Mexican Resturant for lunch and then back to the house for naps.  While the boys were napping Keesi and I went to Architectual Salvage in DMS---Troy and his boss really need to go there.  Fun to see all they have and compare it to what I have.  After that we browsed through Valley Junction and enjoyed the fun shops and nice weather.  My glass of wine at a roof top garden was faaantastic.  Late in the afternoon we headed to the World Food Fair and enjoyed the tastes, sights and sounds.  Great time.

Sunday was the 45th Annual Wirt Picnic.  Smallest crowd ever, one of the nicest days ever.  We had a hayride, walked down that killer hill to get to where we used to have the picnic (I miss having it there) and then came back to our house for supper.  Mom and Dad joined us along with Doug, Jean and Marla, Keesi, Shawn and boys, Bandy, Kindi and girls and Troy, Keri and boys.  What a crowd.  I loved it.  We missed you Luetts!
